         Everyone in ministry today is looking for ways to be more effective, utilize their time and efforts to the best possible degree and strengthen their communication skills. Peter Hall, Youth Student Ministries at First Church of God in Mount Sterling, Kentucky is always on the search for away to use the technology available today in ways that make a difference in his ministry and the ministry of the congregation where he serves.

 

         Here are six suggestions for helping you and your congregation to connect - communicate - and collaborate!

1. FreeConferenceCall.com. This is a free teleconferencing service that is simple to use, requiring only a name and an email address to receive an instant account. Free Conference Call will provide you with a dedicated dial-in number and an access code for their free teleconferencing services, which are ready for immediate use. Why waste gas driving hundreds of miles when you can connect for free.

 

2. Pluggedin.com. This site is provided by “Focus on the Family” and its intent is to provide honest reviews with today’s TV, movies, music, and games. The site informs you of the most recent cultural content available to keep you updated and in the know for your families of the church.

 

3. Blip.tv. Are you interested in providing your congregation with videos or audio sermons available on the web or via iTunes? Blip.tv is a free service that help generates your media on the web and iTunes as a Podcast with ease. This service also provides a way to embed a simple media player directly onto your website with no extra cost.

 

4. Animationfactory.com. Tired of having to use Microsoft’s ugly PowerPoint templates; well, this site gives you incredible PowerPoint templates that are creative and easy to install. It also provides tons of video backgrounds and clip art that can be used for all your publication needs.

 

5.Wingclips.com. Want to engage your congregation with your topic in a way that they will remember? Try “Wingclips”; it is a free and paid service that providesmovie clips on any topic ready to use with any presentation software.

 

6. Hymnopedia.com. Hymnopedia.com is a semi-definitive wiki of hymn lyrics, MIDI files, hymnals, and histories of their authors and composers created to bless those preparing for music worship, Sunday school, sermons and just want to learn more about their favorite hymns.
